Lead FM envelope: how the FM amount moves inside every lead note

M mutes a track, S solos it. It also applies to the MIDI out, the .mid file and the WAV loop.

The small knob beside a knob is its attenuator: turn it to let the LFO or the kick move that knob. Right = up, left = down, centre = off. The tiny button under it switches LFO / KICK. These moves are in our own sound and the WAV, not sent to the TD-3.

Bright rows are notes that fit your key and scale. Dark rows will sound off. Number = scale degree (1 = home note). Click a note to set the step, click it again to make it a rest. Accent adds punch, Slide glides into the next step. Space = play / stop.

Pads The pattern as lights, with the playhead running across. Click a pad to switch a step on or off (Accent row: click = accent, Shift-click = slide).

Click a slot to load it into the editor. Slots follow the TD-3 layout (group I-IV, 1A-8A and 1B-8B). Each B is a variation of its A. Patterns follow the Key. Nothing is sent to your TD-3.

To sync with a DAW (Cubase etc.) on Windows install a free virtual MIDI cable such as loopMIDI. Make two ports, for example "to DAW" (our notes, set as Bass / Lead / Kick out above) and "from DAW" (the DAW's MIDI clock, set as Clock in here). In the DAW send MIDI clock to "from DAW" and record the "to DAW" port on a MIDI track. Use separate ports for notes and clock. Follow DAW and Send clock cannot be on together.

Each track can go to its own MIDI port and channel (bass 1, lead 2, kick 10 with note 36 by default). Pick the same port for all three to feed one synth or DAW on separate channels. The TD-3 should get the bass only. Mute and solo apply here too. Chrome or Edge.

TD-3-MO: the Cutoff knob also sends cutoff (MIDI CC 74, not yet checked on the hardware). The plain TD-3 has no cutoff control over MIDI.
